Welcome Note

Welcome to the “Taking Gender Equality to Local Communities” Project Website. This project aims to disseminate the promotion of gender equality and gender mainstreaming in local development through educational and publicity campaigns that will be carried out at Local Council level.

It intends to:

    •    Create awareness among ordinary citizens about the difficulties and           limitations that gender roles and stereotypes create in everyday activities;
    •    Promote gender equality in every day local activities;
    •    Promote discussion about the roles of women and men in public and private           life;
    •    Help develop a culture that allows both men and women full and free           aspiration to better participation in the activities and policies of the local           community they form part of.

The partners of this Project include:

    •    National Commission for the Promotion of Equality, Malta

    •    KETHI, Greece- Research Centre for Gender Equality
    •    Governmental Office for Gender Equality, Republic of Croatia
